Title: [Antibody-containing cells in the mucosa of the large intestine of patients with acute bacterial dysentery]. Author: Shalygina NB, Petrova TP, Iushchuk ND. Journal: Zh Mikrobiol Epidemiol Immunobiol; 1976 Jan; (1):53-6. PubMed ID: 785886. Abstract: The authors traced the dynamics of appearance, increase and disappearance of O-antibody-containing cells in the mucosa of the distal portion of the large intestine in patients suffering from acute Sonne and Flexner dysentery (aspiration biopsy of the mucosa). The antibodies were revealed by the indirect Coons method. The total number of cells per 1 mm2 of 4 mum of the mucosal section the number of lymphoid cells and the content of the antibody-containing cells in % per total cell count of the lymphoid tissue was calculated. It was revealed that the antibody-containing cells appeared on the 4th day of the disease, reached the maximum on the 7th--8th and disappeared on the 22nd--25th day. Cells of the plasmocytic series containing no antidysentery antibodies, were revealed in large amounts even at the remote periods (up to 6 months) after recovery.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
