  • Title: [Study of fore foot pressure distribution in the foot with hallux valgus].
    Author: Tang RG.
Journal: Zhonghua Wai Ke Za Zhi; 1993 Nov; 31(11):689-91. PubMed ID: 8033695.
    Abstract:
Forefoot pressure measurements were performed by means of Musgrave Footprint system on both 20 healthy subjects (40 feet) and 31 patients with hallux valgus (45 feet). The results showed that the peak pressure under the 1st and 2nd metatarsal heads in the foot with hallux valgus was increased significantly (P < 0.01). The peak pressure under the great toe was decreased with an increasing hallux valgus angle, and the both of them were in negative correlation (r = -0.32, P < 0.05). The clinical significance of these findings was discussed.
