  • Title: [Effect of age and the amount of inoculate on the growth of Streptococcus lactis and its formation of nisin].
Author: Egorov NS, Kozlova IuI, Grushina VA.
    Journal: Mikrobiologiia; 1975; 44(4):637-40. PubMed ID: 809641.
    Abstract:
The cells of Streptococcus lactis, strain MGU, synthesize considerable amounts of nisine in the course of their growth. The rate of metabolic processes is not increased by stirring if the medium is complete and easily assimilated. Utilization of a young inoculate (1.5, 3, and 6 hours) reduces the process of nisine production by 1.5--2 times. The amount of the inoculate exceeding 1.5 volume percent has no significant effect on the biosynthesis.
