PubMed ID: 8112536. Abstract: We reviewed 286 records of patients older than 60 years with upper GI bleeding from 1985 to 1990. The average age was 72.7 +/- 8.9 y. The most common etiologies were: Gastric Ulcer 26%, Erosive gastritis 24%, Esophageal varices 16%, Duodenal Ulcer 13%, Miscellaneous 17% and Unknown causes 3%.
