Title: The nutritive value of biscuits protein-enriched with soy-bean meal. Author: Gontzea I, Popescu F. Journal: Physiologie; 1976; 13(1):3-7. PubMed ID: 817343. Abstract: The researches were carried out on 4 groups of 15 weanling rats and 2 groups of 8 adult rats "pair fed" in individual cages, with a complete isocaloric and isoproteic (10%) diet, the nitrogenous material being supplied for one group from casein, for another from gluten and for the two others this was supplemented with soy-bean meal (5 or 10%). The results obtained in the growth test and in adult rats (nitrogen balance) show that the incorporation of soy-bean into the gluten biscuits increased the gain in weight and the PER lowering the consumption index (p less than 0.001), and doubled the nitrogen retention.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
