    Abstract:
    A 30-year-old man newly diagnosed as having acute lymphoblastic leukaemia developed spontaneous splenic rupture during hospitalisation before initiation of antileukaemic therapy. He developed sudden shock and abdominal ultrasound was diagnostic. Laparotomy confirmed the ultrasound findings, and a splenectomy was performed.
