Title: [Antibiotic sensitivity tests (author's transl)]. Author: Devriese L. Journal: Tijdschr Diergeneeskd; 1976 Dec 01; 101(23):1291-7. PubMed ID: 827819. Abstract: Sensitivity to antibacterial agents may be studied using quantitative dilution tests and qualitative diffusion tests. There is a strongly felt need for standardized testing methods. Currently, the so-called Bauer-Kirby method appears to be the most suitable test, also for use in veterinary medicine. When this technique is adopted, results are classifid as "sensitive", "resistant" and "showing diminished sensitivity". Interpretations are based on pharmacological, bacteriological and clinical criteria. In some situations, in vitro results have not been sufficiently tested in the field. This would appear to be particularly so in local conditions and treatment.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
