    Abstract:
    Cogan's syndrome (CS) is a systemic disease of putative immunological origin. The syndrome comprises fluctuating and progressive sensorineural hearing loss and nonsyphilitic interstitial keratitis. Other manifestations are seen, aortic insufficiency in particular. A characteristic case of CS is described in which reversal of sensorineural hearing loss was achieved during oral corticosteroid therapy. In addition, aortic valve insufficiency was diagnosed, necessitating surgical valve replacement.
