Title: [The action of industrial hydrogen sulfide-containing natural gas from the Astrakhan deposit on the activity of the respiratory neurons]. Author: Velikanov EB, Safonov VA. Journal: Biull Eksp Biol Med; 1993 Jul; 116(7):32-4. PubMed ID: 8400172. Abstract: Experiments in chloral hydrate-anesthetized male Wistar rats showed that upon switching of the animals to breathing of natural hydrogen sulphide-containing gas rapid (starting from 10-15s), alterations of the rate and depth of respiratory movements occurred which ended with sudden and irreversible respiratory arrest. At this, the electrical activity of the diaphragm disappeared, the burst activity of respiratory neurons first became continuous and after that completely disappeared. The activity of reticular neurons was the most prolonged one.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
