Abstract: This self-directed learning module highlights new advances in sports-related injuries of the lower extremity. It is part of the chapter on sports medicine in the Self-Directed Medical Knowledge Program for practitioners and trainees in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This article contains sections on injuries of the hip and thigh, knee and leg, and ankle and foot. The most common injuries are primarily addressed, while less common injuries are more briefly discussed.
