Abstract: The new programme and guidelines have been developed for secondary prevention of coronary heart disease in patients with hyperlipaemia. All patients who have suffered myocardial infarction, have angina pectoris, have had a coronary by-pass, or have undergone angioplastic surgery, should have the following serum lipid profile established within one to two months: total cholesterol < 5 mmol/l, ratio total cholesterol/HDL-cholesterol < 4, LDL-cholesterol < 3 mmol/l, triglycerides < 2 mmol/l and HDL-cholesterol > 1 mmol/l in men and 1.3 mmol/l in women.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
