Title: [Continent urostomy using the intestine]. Author: Benchekroun A, Belahnech Z, Faik M, Marzouk M, Bouslikhane N. Journal: Ann Urol (Paris); 1995; 29(4):214-26. PubMed ID: 8554292. Abstract: The hydraulic ileal valve, which we developed in 1975, ensures continence by adapting to 5 different urinary reservoirs. An isolated ileal segment (14 cm) is folded inward on itself throughout its entire length. We performed 260 continent urostomies. An ileocecal reservoir was used in 179, detubularised ileocecal reservoir in 32, ileum 34, sigmoïd 5, rectum 1 and bladder (continent cystostomy) in 8. Of the patients 82% were continent immediately. Continence was obtained after repair of the valve in 12.5% therefore, 94.5% patients over all were continent.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
