  • Title: [The effect of exposure to continuous Nd:YAG laser radiation on the wound healing process after removal of the teeth (a histological study on rats)].
    Author: Niccoli-Filho W, Okamoto T.
Journal: Stomatologiia (Mosk); 1995; 74(5):26-9. PubMed ID: 8597180.
    Abstract:
A histological study on healing extraction wounds in rats following laser radiation using a Nd:YAG continuous laser was carried out in rats. The results suggested that this mode of treatment has no beneficial effect on initial bone wound healing. The proliferation of fibroblasts and formation of trabecular osteoid tissue were found to be more underdeveloped within the irradiated group. The newly formed bone suggests delayed ossification with in the irradiated group.
