  • Title: Can bilharziasis of the seminal vesicles be a cause of obstructive infertility?
Author: Aboul TE, Saad SM, Arafa AF, Ghorab MM.
Journal: Fertil Steril; 1977 Jul; 28(7):775-6. PubMed ID: 872961.
    Abstract:
In patients with bilharzial seminal vesiculitis, it has been proved by the fructose test, seminal vesiculography, and casting that the vesicular and ampullary canals as well as the ejaculatory ducts are patient. Thus bilharziasis plays no role in the production of obstructive infertility in males. 3 techniques were used to evaluate the role of bilharziasis of the male genital tract in infertile patients with clinically diagnosed bilharzial seminal vesiculitis. Patency of the vesicular and ampullary canals as well as the ejaculatory ducts was verified by the seminal fructose test, seminal vesiculography, and casting of the seminal vesicles. It is concluded that bilharziasis is not involved in the production of obstructive infertility in males.
