Title: Lack of effect of vasectomy on hepatic mixed function monooxygenase enzymes in the rat. Author: Reinke LA, Stohs SJ. Journal: Contraception; 1977 May; 15(5):535-42. PubMed ID: 880824. Abstract: The effect of vasectomy on the activities of some of the hepatic mixed function monooxygenase enzymes was studied. In vitro, the metabolism of aniline and aminopyrine was slightly, but not markedly, reduced in vasectomized animals compared with sham-operated controls. Similarly, vasectomy did not markedly alter the hepatic microsomal metabolism of androst-4-en-3,17-dione, or the microsomal content of cytochrome P-450, cytochrome b (5), or microsomal protein. The weights of the liver, heart, adrenals, kidneys, or testes did not appear to be affected by vasectomy.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
