Title: [Properties and acceptance of Melolin wound dressing in postoperative management of male urethral reconstruction]. Author: Schumacher S, Fisch M, Schurig E, Hohenfellner R. Journal: Urologe A; 1996 Jan; 35(1):14-7. PubMed ID: 8851844. Abstract: In a prospective study we examined the quality and acceptance of the non-adhesive wound dressing Melolin during postoperative treatment following urethral reconstruction in 30 male patients. The wound dressing was cut individually for each patient and sterile Bepanthen ointment was applied to it. We fixed the dressing with a cohesive elastic bandage (Easifix Cohesive) and three cutaneous stiches and left it in place for 9 days. Both acceptance and absorbance of this bandage were good. Complete removal of the wound dressing was possible with no problems, although a camomile-water bath was necessary in two cases. No wound infections were observed. As functional and cosmetic results are so good, we now use this wound dressing routinely.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
