Title: Absence of association between the angiotensin-converting enzyme gene polymorphism and borderline hypertension in men of St Petersburg, Russia. Author: Popov V, Fomicheva E, Kovalev J, Schwartz E. Journal: J Hum Hypertens; 1996 Aug; 10(8):557-9. PubMed ID: 8895041. Abstract: We studied the insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene in 131 young males with borderline hypertension (BHT) and in 87 normotensive (NT) young males as a control group using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique. The allele frequencies of insertion and deletion ACE alleles were not different in both groups. These results suggest that I/D polymorphism of the ACE gene is not associated with a BHT in males of St Petersburg.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
