Abstract: Diabetic nephropathy is the most frequent cause for renal replacement therapy in many countries. This is mainly due to an increase of renal insufficiency of type II diabetic patients. The poor situation could be improved by following measures: (a) screening of microalbuminuria for early diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy, (b) consequent treatment of known factors influencing the course of nephropathy such as poor metabolic control, hypertension, increased protein ingestion or smoking, (c) improved cooperation between general practitioner and specialized centers concerning treatment of diabetic patients with nephropathy.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
