Title: Inflammatory peritonitis with ascites after methylene blue dye chromopertubation during diagnostic laparoscopy. Author: Nolan DG. Journal: J Am Assoc Gynecol Laparosc; 1995 Aug; 2(4):483-5. PubMed ID: 9050608. Abstract: An uneventful chromopertubation was performed with methylene blue dye during diagnostic laparoscopy for infertility. Approximately 24 hours later the woman experienced acute abdominal distention and pain. Emergency exploratory laparotomy revealed peritoneal ascites consistent with a sterile inflammatory exudate.
