Title: Spontaneous arterioenteric fistula after pancreas transplantation. Author: Gritsch HA, Shapiro R, Egidi F, Randhawa PS, Starzl TE, Corry RJ. Journal: Transplantation; 1997 Mar 27; 63(6):903-4. PubMed ID: 9089233. Abstract: Chronic pancreas transplant rejection with enteric exocrine drainage can lead to significant long-term complications. We report a case of a 47-year-old male insulin-dependent diabetic who survived the complications of peripancreatic abscess, enterocutaneous fistula, and arterioenteric fistula related to pancreas transplantation. To avoid these long-term complications, we now recommend elective removal of nonfunctioning, enterically drained pancreas allografts.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
