Title: Pathogenesis and management of bone lesions in multiple myeloma. Author: Bataille R, Manolagas SC, Berenson JR. Journal: Hematol Oncol Clin North Am; 1997 Apr; 11(2):349-61. PubMed ID: 9137974. Abstract: Osteolytic lesions are among the hallmarks of multiple myeloma (MM). On the other hand, they are rare in B cell malignancies other than MM. Data have shown a close relationship between myeloma cell growth factors and factors involved in the occurrence of bone lesions in MM. Biophosphonates, which are potent inhibitors of bone resorption to control MM-induced hypercalcemia, are of interest due to their ability to slow the progression of MM bone disease.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
