  • Title: [So-called infantile cerebral palsy].
    Author: Abdukhakimov FT, Shashkina LM.
Journal: Zh Nevropatol Psikhiatr Im S S Korsakova; 1977; 77(10):1487-90. PubMed ID: 930496.
    Abstract:
On the basis of a comprehensive clinical study of 60 children and a pathomorphological study of the postmortem material the authors established, that in the so-called infantile cerebral paralysis the polymorphic neurological symptomatology is not fully reflected in the existing classifications. Separate clinical forms do not correspond to the pyramidal cerebral pathology, but have an extrapyramidal, cerebellar, hypothalamic and spinal character. The pathomorphological examination detected areas of devastation with a proliferation of the neuroglia, different forms and sizes of cavities in all the brain lobes, in the extrapyramidal system, in the hypothalamic area, cerebellum and spinal cord. The authors suggest that there should be a reconsideration of the terminology and classification of the so-called infantile cerebral paralysis.
