    AIM OF STUDY: Recommendations of standardized radiographic assessment in clinical and epidemiological studies on patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis. METHODS: Survey of published studies and results of consensus conferences regarding reproducibility of radiographic assessment and standardization procedures. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: With the proposed guidelines a standardized and reproducible radiographic assessment of patients with hip and ankle osteoarthritis in clinical and epidemiological studies is possible. The recommended procedures can be supplemented by additional techniques.
