    Abstract:
    A variety of devices are available for aftercare of the partially amputated foot. The prescription of these devices depends on the extent of the amputation, subsequent muscle balance, and the willingness of the patient to comply with the use of the device. Above all, long-term follow-up care is necessary to evaluate the need and effectiveness of any orthotic prescription as well as to provide local care for excessive preulcerative keratosis associated with new focal pressure points.
