Abstract: Vipera berus is the only viper i.e. venomous (poisonous) snake that is found in Poland. Snakebites occur rarely und usually follow attempts of catching the viper or accidental treading on it. Appropriate treatment consists of administering specific antivenom serum (antivenin).
