Title: [Diagnostic contribution and current concepts in nailfold capillary microscopy in rheumatology]. Author: Caleiro MT. Journal: Rev Hosp Clin Fac Med Sao Paulo; 1997; 52(2):104-10. PubMed ID: 9435405. Abstract: Nailfold capillary microscopy has been recently used among us, despite it has current use abroad for early diagnosis in connective tissue diseases. Its best value is to distinguish primary and secondary Raynaud's phenomenon and to predict connectivopathies, especially when added to antinuclear antibodies. The "SD pattern" consists in enlarged capllaries beside avascular areas, or focal desvascularization. In patients with suspected dermatomyositis, progressive systemic sclerosis or mixed connective tissue disease, SD pattern at nailfold capillaroscopy contributes to early diagnosis, with great benefit for the patient. It is, However, strongly indicated for this two groups of patients.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
