Abstract: Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGP) is a rare and aggressive form of chronic pyelonephritis for which partial or complete nephrectomy is mandatory [1.2]. The diagnosis and, in particular, the differentiation from hypernephroma is mostly established by the histopathological examination only.
