Title: [Changes in the activity of the catalase antioxidant enzyme complex of the erythrocytes as dependent on autonomic nervous system function in closed craniocerebral trauma]. Author: Volkodav OV. Journal: Lik Sprava; 1998; (5):117-9. PubMed ID: 9793327. Abstract: The condition of the vegetative nervous system (VNS) was studied as was the activity of erythrocyte catalase antioxidant enzymic complex in 81 patients with mild closed craniocerebral injury (MCCCI) including 47 patients with concussion of the brain and 34 patients presenting with mild contusion of the brain. Correlation was established between changes in catalase activity and condition of the sympathetic and parasympathetic sections of VNS, which fact permitted the recognition of the following two levels of adaptive systemic control of functional bodily disorders in MCCCI: 1) the nerve canal of control; 2) the humoral canal of control. The above features can be used for a differential approach in the evaluation of severity of posttraumatic complications, prescription of the antioxidant therapy in acute phase of mild craniocerebral injury.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
