    Current knowledge about potentially serious infections after dental treatment suggests that antibiotic prophylaxis is of benefit in their prevention. This article describes several regimens for preventing infectious sequelae in patients with heart disease, prosthetic joints, and other "high risk" medical conditions. The prudent dental practitioner will use them regularly.
